There are many viruses, trojans and worms that can infect your PC and many can be picked up by an innocent visit to what would appear to be a trustworthy website.

You can help protect your computer by:-

  1. Install a good virus checker such as AVG (there is a free version available and is excellent)
  2. Make sure that you have a firewall switched on (Windows/XP Service pack 3 and all later versions of Windows have a built in firewall which is usually quite sufficient)
  3. Install a ”malware” checker such as Malwarebytes (free to download and use) and run this once a month.

If your computer is running badly then it may be “infected” with spyware or malware, so Malwarebytes can be your saviour.
